Signs of Spring 2013

Rhubarb

Seems like everyone 'round here feels like Spring is taking its dang sweet time getting here the is year. In years to come we'll probably refer to it as 'The Year of the (mock) Lawsuit against Punxsutawny Phil'. I wonder how many will remember that it was just a mock lawsuit. The Associated Press sure did circulate the story far and wide. Must-a been a slow news day.

Now don't be suing me if I'm wrong, but I really believe that Spring is here at last. Just a few more cold days and the weather will be quite pleasant.

Signs of Spring are all around us now. On our Tuesday evening stroll we heard tree frogs peeping along the marshland. In the last few days the daffodils lining the back walkway sprang up two inches. Found a couple crocus blooming in the front yard, no doubt planted by some enterprising little rodent that can't remember the safe place he stored it. And the birds. Lawdy! Lawdy! Isn't it nice to hear the bird serenade from every open window and door? "Spring is here! Cheer-up! Cheer-up!," say the little birdies in the hedgerow.

Cheer-up! Find some signs of Spring to remember as you go about your week. Get out and get a little natural Vitamin D in the form of sunlight. You'll feel better when you do!

The predicted high today for this area is close to 50 degrees. We're off to Allegheny National Forest for a bit of hiking. Where are you headed?
